From Them To Us

We are driven to interact in social patterns to spread information. Gossip about each other, news of the world, exchange of ideas and thoughts. These interactions can have myriad and potentially profound effects on the people we are socializing with, however we rarely approach conversation with this in mind. One implanted idea can lead someone down a rabbit hole that completely changes their outlook on what is truth and reality. This can be seen in how believers of QAnon and other conspiracy theories were led astray in small steps to the final delusion. I wanted to explore how common phrases that are often used as filler in conversation can perpetuate these misunderstandings."They said" is one of these phrases, often giving clout to an assertion we have made. Yet, there is no"they" to give us understanding. "They" is really a delusion of authority derived from the abstraction of information flow through society. As the information spreads, they becomes all of us.
